Expensive to Eat

I want to prepare better, tastier, and most especially healthier meals for myself.  As I grow older and hopefully wiser, I see the importance of eating a healthier, more sensible diet than what I have done in the past.  My body needs to be properly nourished in order to regain and maintain good health, so it must be fed good food.  I have always given my vehicles the care they need to run well and long, and I have always made sure I took good care of my animals, feeding them only the best of what they need to be healthy and happy, yet I have not followed through with this type of care & treatment to my own body.  It is time to smarten up and take better care of me!  This being said, it is really a huge challenge to do so.  I look at recipes for good, health filled meals, and there are many ingredients I have never heard of before, or there are ingredients I know well, but can only purchase in larger quantities than I need for the recipe and I know the rest of it will go bad before I get the chance to use it up.  For example, 1 tsp. of fresh cilantro, finely chopped.... I have to buy a full bunch of cilantro and the teaspoon of it for the recipe is only a small amount of what is there so the rest of it would go in the garbage before I could use it for another recipe some time down the road. A recipe calling for 2 stalks of celery leaves the rest of the head of celery to rot, unless one can use it up in some way.  I enjoy eating celery raw and I know it's good for me, yet I alone can only eat so much of it.  Being a single person really makes meal preparations a challenge compared to having a full family that would eat up the meal so much faster and therefore require many more meals to be cooked, and the ingredients to be used up much more quickly.  Being a single person, it is almost as expensive to live as it is for a family of 4, when you consider rent or mortgage has to be paid for 1 or for a family.... hydro, heat, phone, etc etc all have to be paid for 1 or for an entire family, then the food comes to nearly as much money, but the family eats it and the single person tosses a lot more into the garbage or, as in my case, the compost pile.

Canadian Issues

I got this in an email and decided to share it here. It is sadly true.  I like giving aid to other countries, yet so many people here at home need it too and I feel we must look after them first. Our politicians keep giving themselves raises while they close schools and hospitals, while people are hungry and homeless in our country.  Please do not take offense at any words you may think are 'bad language', and if you are from one of the countries other than Canada please do not take offense at any of this letter, it is not meant to be mean to any of you, it is just meant to share what is happening here in Canada.

Canada is such a wonderful country in so many ways.... and yet it has some major problems that must be fixed.  Our governments have and continue to create poverty here in our own country while they keep giving themselves raises and better retirement packages.  Please read this and pass it on. I'm not sure how this email can change things for the better of all in our country, yet perhaps knowledge is the beginning of a better future.

‘Entitlement’ my ass, I paid cash for my Old Age Security and CPP!!!! Just because they borrowed the money, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!! Gold plated MP pensions and Civil Service Government benefits, a.k.a. free healthcare, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, 20 weeks paid  vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that's welfare, and they have the nerve to call me a 'greedy senior' and my retirement, an ‘entitlement’ !!!!!!

Someone please tell  me what the HELL's wrong with all the people that run this country!!!!!!

We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,?????
but spent 1.2 billions of dollars for G-20 events!
 
In the  last few months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey. And now Khanistan, Pakistan ...... home of Bin Laden.  Literally, BILLIONS of our DOLLARS!!!

Our  retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$'s and Tons of  Food to Foreign Countries!

They  call Old Age Security and Healthcare an entitlement even though most of us have been  paying for it all our working lives and now when it’s time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government  borrow from it in the first  place?   

We have  hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

CANADA:  A country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, hospitals & schools being closed, average income families who can't afford dental care, elderly going without 'needed' medications and having to travel 100's of miles for medical care with no reimbursement of cost, vehicles we can't afford gas for, lack of affordable housing, and mentally ill without treatment - etc., etc.

YET.....
They  have a 'Benefit'  for the people of Haiti, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents, clothes, bedding, doctors, and medical  supplies.

Imagine if  the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.

Sad isn't it?

I found this sign on the internet and copied it out on a big plastic sign... actually on the back of a big plastic For Sale sign I have here.  I have this sign out in my yard, at the top of my driveway where no one could come up to the yard level my home is on without seeing the sign. It's been up for awhile now and going to stay there for as long as need be.

I REFUSE TO HAVE A "SMART METER" installed on my home.  Many people are worried about the health hazards of these meters and with good reason, however, there is much more to worry about than just the health hazards.  There is also the VIOLATION OF PRIVACY and the fact that these meters help to facilitate CONTROL OVER YOU!!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I just did a post titled "Random Thoughts" & when I hit the Publish Post button I was "kicked out" of Blogger.  My post that I wanted up before 9pm got lost and I am not impressed.  Ah, and yet life goes on. Now, to see how many random thoughts I can have again:

- in the last Random Thoughts post, I had problems with the 'functions' here, hit Enter & nothing happens.  That is happening again with this post. I have to click the cursor into place after I hit Enter... grrr.
- I enjoyed time with my TOPS friends today.  The meetings are always fairly good though lunch, sometimes shopping, & finally go for desert with the gals is always nicer.
- I had a good visit with Mom this afternoon.
- I prefer the was "social security benefits" sounds rather than Welfare or Old Age Pension.
- I'm reading the book "The Power" by Rhonda Byrne, very good. She is the author of The Secret & I think this book is a lot better than her last one.
- I'm watching Gray's Anatomy on TV, with my cat curled up on my bed between my feet, my bird DW in her cage near by.

This is flipping ridiculous!!!   It used to be so easy to upload photos to Blogger and to put them into the order you wanted them.  Now there is a new system here since I last uploaded photos.  I sure hope they get rid of it soon.  I am NOT happy with this.  I had to upload 1 photo at a time (used to be 5), it took 10 times the amount of time it used to.  Also, the photos now are nearly impossible to put into order.

Crashed Trike

One week ago yesterday I was in a Motor Vehicle Accident & my trike was totaled.  I was driving through town (smallish city), just returning from a most wonderful ride on my trike.  I am going to copy/paste part of something I wrote to my fellow members/friends of the BC Classic Motorcycle Club.

On Friday I went for a beautiful ride to Westbank.  My friend Tuggy was going down to visit Gloria, ex-wife #2 and still a good friend.  He invited me to ride along & meet Glo.  He was hoping to take her for her last ride.  Glo used to ride her own very nice bike... now she has ALS, a nasty disease that will take her life, yet she is still so possitive & upbeat... a lady to truly admire.  Glo had an awesome pair of custom made chaps.  They fit me perfectly & she gave them to me.  What an awesome gift for which I am so grateful.

After having lunch with Glo, Tuggy (drove a tug boat for many years, thus the name) & I left there about 3pm, stopped @ Princess Auto for a couple minutes then headed home.  Got to our city and as we came down hospital hill I was in the lead. We were north bound, lots of other traffic around, but the immediate lane in front of me was clear.... then it wasn't.  A blue car heading south made a left turn right in front of me.  There was no chance to stop.  I T-boned her, then flew off the trike hitting the car with my body.  The next moment of awareness, I was on the ground holding my left wrist, knowing it was broken.  I saw one of the trike mirrors laying not far away & glass (from the car?? did my body break the passenger side windows??).  I looked up & saw another car at the stop sign with damage to the driver's door. The blue car that caused all the trouble was stopped a ways down the side street & the slim blond was walking back, saying "I'm sorry. I'm sorry."  My "inner biker" came out to protect me and said some not very pretty F-words to her.  (I would now kind of like to apologize  for being 'nasty', tho at the time it was some kind of survival mechanism kicking in.)

Several real nice people stopped to look after me, then firemen came... ambulance... cops.  A fireman went to check my helmet that had by this time been taken off me... to see what head trauma there may have been.  Later Tug told me a cop also checked my helmet... for DOT (Department Of Transport approved).  Good thing I bought a good new DOT helmet this spring. 

I was taken to Hospital by ambulance.  They had hoped to get me into the OR Friday night but got a bigger emergency in so I had surgery about 10am Saturday.  They had to reconstruct my left wrist, putting in a metal plate & 9 screws to hold it all together.  Dang, I can think of better ways for a gal to get new jewelry!!!  I was released from hospital sometime around 11am today (Sunday).

 Yes, I was paying attention to my riding, not to men's running shorts or short men running or men running in shorts or any other scenario, and still I had no time to do anything but hit her. 

I know I am blessed to be alive and with just a shattered wrist.

Ripped Off

Mom followed a link awhile back that took her from Facebook to an Iphone place where they said that if Mom submitted her name and stuff, they'd send her an Iphone that she would use fur a few weeks then write about what she thought of this phone. Mom could keep the phone and it would be hers fur doing that report on it. She was real excited cuz she really wanted that phone. Oh, I guess she should have known better, but it really looked legit. Well, I guess she won't be needing iphone accessories any time soon cuz she has never received the darn phone. Now she knows it must have been a scam of some sort, yet still can't seem to throw it off, still there is a part of her that looks fur that phone in the mail.... and it never comes. Grrrrrrr. People that scam should be bitten!!

Grouching woof reason

Well, the only comments I've gotten here lately are the spammer work. They copy comments other have left here fur me or they steel my own words to post here fur me to read as if I wouldn't recognize my own doggy words. Not all these peoples are smart, so guess we gotta allow fur that. I think they need a good business plan writer to write fur them so they can get into a business where their time will be better spent doing something other than spamming. All the hours and hours they spend spamming people & dogs is not getting them any money so they should do something better... in my most humble doggy opinion of course.

Comment Moderation

Hello my friends. I had to add Comment Moderation to my blog. It makes this dog very sad to have to do this, but there are so many LOSERS out there that waste time SPAMMING and way too many of them have found their way to this dog blog. They bin at Mom's too. Fur now it's added to my blog as it's the worst, and if this helps here I think Mom will have to add it to hers too. If things get better and these losers furget I'm here, I will take this off again. In the meantime, I hope it doesn't cause you too much problems if yur my friend.

Grrrrr

I just deleted whole bunches of comments that were left here fur me. You see, those nasty spammers are now using a new 'trick'. They copy comments left in previous posts, then post it as if it's theirs, or they copy comments left on other peoples blogs and post them here... anything to try to trick us into leaving their links here. You know, if they left a real message here I'd leave their link, but not this way.

I apologize if you are 'for real' and I delete your comment. You see, it can be kinda hard to tell if it's real or a spammer who copied one. So what I'm doing is, if it sounds appropriate to the post I leave it, and if it doesn't say something about that particular post, then it's gone. Of course, if you're someone I know then I leave it here fur sure... and am glad to get it.

I gotta tell you, if I had any Myrtle beach golf packages to give away, I would never give one to a spammer!!

Just Talking

It got real cold here for awhile and I didn't like that at all. Now it's warm again so lots nicer. I had to stay home today cuz Mom was real busy woof stuff she had to do. I'm still home alone, out in my run while waiting fur Mom to come home. Good thing she left me her 'other' laptop. Works good that way now that she has a new one. She thought the HP was about to die even tho it was only 1 1/2 years old, cuz it makes bad noises a bunch and fur awhile the monitor was all weird. Anyway, since she doesn't take it woof her anymore it is running better and I sometimes get to use it when Mom is away. Arf, arf, arf. But I digress.... it was being out here that I was talking about. The light is off so I'm out here in the dark and woof no heat. Not that there's heat in the house now either mind you, cuz Mom furgot to put a bag of pellets into the stove before she left and it only runs so long woof out a new bag of pellets... so it is probably chilly inside too. Still though, I think Mom should get home real soon and let me inside and feed me and the pellet stove. I don't need weight loss supplement... I just shiver off any excess fat. Where oh where is my MOOOOOMMMMM!! I know... I'll just bark at some coyotes fur awhile till she gets home. I know she'll be here soon and I'm hoping she's bringing me some pasta fur my dinner.

Hi. Someone named Anonymous keeps leaving messages here, and I mean Lots of messages, that I don't post. I can't read 巧克力(chocolate) 的種類... and even if I could I wouldn't post stuff like this. You'd think that when none of this persons posts ever show up here they'd clue in and stop leaving them. Guess they're not as smart as your average dog.

Not only am I not going to post these things, but the only chocolate I am interested in is Chocolate Labs, and then only a little bit (in moderation). Chocolate Labs are dogs that can be fun to play woof. I wonder if eating the best diet pills would make this person go away like they sposed to make fat go away? Hmmmm. But I'm already too skinny & Mom 'Bean is trying to fatten me up, so guess I better not try it. Arf, arf, arf.

Well, I gotta go out now. Mom has a pork chop fur me to take outside & eat so she can get ready to go to Sunday Service. TTYL.

Unique Pain In The Butt

There is a guy and his dog living in a little trailer in our lower yard. The dog is a girl Boxer called Unique, and she is about a year or so old. She is real friendly and likes my Mom 'Bean. I like pretty much all other dogs and I don't mind when they come over to Mom fur some patting. At the dog park there's lots of other dogs and we all get along just fine, even the ones that go visit Mom. Before when that little ShitZoo, Angel, was living here, I didn't mind her at all. She was also a girl about a year old. She came into our house and I never minded that, and we even played a bit. But there is something about Unique that I just don't like. When she's around I gets my hair up on my back, along the back bone, and I snarl and growl and bark at her. I even jump on her and push her down onto the ground and show her who's boss 'round here. Mom gets real surprised cuz this just isn't like me but I just can't help myself.

Mom told Unique's hooman not to let her out here and told him that 3 out of 4 critters in the Pet Cemetery here were killed on the highway. She also told him to be sure to pick up Unique's poop. Well, he lets her out to run around all the time, and he doesn't even know where she poops, so doesn't pick it up. Mom isn't happy 'bout that. She not want poop all over the place, and she not want to have any more critters buried in the Pet Cemetery. That makes Mom very sad. And she thinks this guy doesn't love his dog like he should. He even talked to day 'bout the only way to train a Boxer is to punch it so hard you knock it out. Mom is NOT happy 'bout that and will call the police and SPCA if she ever sees him do anything like that... and she'll kick him off the property too.

Thanks fur listening and letting me 'vent' about my problems.

About my blog rank and such

There's some stuff been happening here lately that is not making me too happy. For one thing, my blog's PR went down a month or so ago... from PR3 to PR0. That bites big time! Thing is, that could have something to do with the other thing... The site meter reporter thingy keeps sayin' I have no visitors coming here. Now how silly is that. How could people leave comments her for me if they didn't come here? I admit that lately there's not been that many people or critters coming her to visit me, and it's been getting real lonely... but at least SOME have been comin' by to say 'hi'. And if I'm getting some comments, you can bet there are some that come by to look see that don't leave messages. But still I get these reports all the time:

It's like it quit seeing the visitors comin' and goin' here. This is messin' woof my doggy cookie supply and I am NOT happy about that. Do any of you have any ideas what I can do to make that silly thingy work right again? If so, please let me know.




I think it would be nice to have my showfur (Mom) drive me around in this car. That back seat looks comfortable for me. If you have one of these, you might need some Chrysler 300 accessories.

Moderation

This comment moderation stuff can be a real PITA. Mom & I keep forgetting to post the wonderful comments we get from peoples. We read them in our Inbox and love them, then forget for a long time that we have to post them now. But we will eventually get the hang of it, so please keep commenting.

We've both been thinking about turning off the comment moderation, and just going back to normal, but then I got another spam comment. I wouldn't mind at all if someone sent me Spam (the sandwich meat) but I don't like spam (unsolicited advertising crap). Anyway, if you can't even leave your name and a link back to you, you obviously don't have pride in what you're trying to sell, you're just in it for the money... if you don't have pride in what you sell, why should anyone want to buy it. Go away, you are NOT welcome here. Somehow this will come back to bite you in the butt!

Hello all my dear internet friends and guests. You will notice when you leave your comments that I have resorted to comment moderation... no weird letter combinations for you to type in, but you will not see your comments until after I read them and allow them to be shown. By the same token, you will not see any spam comments here again.

Unfortunately some people, hiding behind anonymous comments or blocking their blogs to anyone they have not authorized, have been leaving spam on my blog. I will not allow this on my blog!!

These people obviously do not really believe in what they are spamming us with or they would leave their names and links where they can be contacted. Anyone who does not do this does not stand behind or have the conviction of what they are selling or preaching. I feel sorry for this kind of person that feels they must spam others with a lot of 'crap'!

This comment moderation should cause no one any inconvenience except the spammers. I wish you all a wonderful day.
