Manic Monday

The word this week, brought to us by Mo at the Manic Monday homepage, is:
Pop!

There are lots of things you can pop. Some of 'em are:
- pop a zit!
- pop a weasel
- pop a balloon
- pop some top rated diet pills
- pop a candy in yur mouth
- pop the cat (arf, arf)
- woof some doggy cookies (well okay, so that's not a pop, but it's a good idea anyway)
- and now I'm gonna think about popping in to my bed.
(yawn, stretch)

Have a Manic Monday!

Manic Monday

The word this week, brought to us by Mo at the Manic Monday homepage, is:
Shower

Well, shower me woof ephedra pills... okay, just gettin' yur attention woof that one, arf arf. Aren't I a funny dog?!!! Seriously though, hoomans... dogs don't like to shower. In fact, we don't like to bath either. You brush me and I will lick where I think needs to be cleaned and that will do just find, thank you. Oh, you can shower me woof love though, and woof doggy cookies. I never seem to be able to get enough love or doggy cookies, and these are very important to a dog. I think people should shower each other woof more love too, but not woof doggy cookies.

Now you kin go see all the other posts listed at Manic Monday... and go see Mom's post too.

Manic Monday

The word for Monday 5/25 is
memorial

Many people went away for Memorial weekend, out camping, fishing, boating, and some to different towns and cities to visit family &/or friends. Ellen wished she could have gone away somewhere, yet here she sat, feeling somewhat caged in. She was working from home this weekend, writing a Lipofuze review for the company she worked for. "Well," she told herself, "at least I get to work from home this weekend, rather than having to go in to the office."

She got up from her desk and walked into the kitchen to make herself a peanut butter & jam sandwich, then thought maybe a poached egg on toast would be better, a bit more healthy perhaps even. Either way, a cup of tea would go good with her snack. How she would love to be having a turkey or ham dinner for Memorial day instead, and knew there was no point in wishing for what can't be. To tell the truth, what she really wanted was something hot and sweet.... and that was not on the menu.

"A nap," she thought. "To heck with working just now, and even the food. What I really need is to lay down and nap awhile. I'm sure life will be more exciting and fulfilling when I wake up again." With that, she walked to her bedroom, crawled into the bed, snuggled down beneath the covers, and went off to Dreamland where her lover awaited.

Dogic Monday

This week, the Manic Monday work is swing.

Once upon a time, a long, long time ago in dog years though not so long ago in human years, there was a dog who loved to play a bit too much. Being a purebred, registered dog, he had a very long 'breeder' name, Gold 'N Glory Menagerie's Arlington Rudolf Finigan. He just went by ARF for short. His attention span was not so good, so neither was his memory. In fact, damaged computer memory worked better than his. If he went out to play by himself, he furgot how to go back home, he sometimes even furgot to try to go back home. He would just get so involved woof playing and chasing squirels and such that all else disappeared from his mind. One day ARF didn't know where he was and no one came to find him this time, no one at all (or if they did, they didn't find him), so ARF wandered around lost. By night, he either slept where he was or he wandered some more, listening to his empty belly growling more than he himself had ever growled.

ARF was so happy when a man named Frank found him and took him home, fed him and bathed him, giving him a nice new collar. Frank also gave him a new name, Founder, which was okay woof ARF since he had quite furgotten his name anyway.

After awhile, Founder's human dad decided he had to keep Founder with him in order to keep him safe. This made Founder most happy, as it did Frank who had been a lonely man until he found this "dog from God" as he sometime refurred to Founder. When Frank went golfing, so did Founder. When Frank went to the movie, so did Founder. Frank had to stop going into restaurants and start going through the drive thru at McDanald's because they wouldn't let him in woof Founder along. The best and favorite times for both Founder and Frank was in the evenings when they sat together on the back yard swing. Back and forth, back and forth they slowly and gently went as they enjoyed each others company and the evening air, not to mention the ducks playing in the creek that flowed through the yard. At one time in his life, ARF would have gone off chasing those ducks... and furgotten to come back home, now Founder had furgotten he even liked to chase ducks and things. He'd furgotten he ever even had a life before the one woof Frank. He was happy to just be close to Frank, so never bothered to think of anything else.

Manic-Dogic Monday

Welcome to my version of Manic Monday.... Dogic Monday. Hey, I'm a dog, what can I say? Today's word is waffle. So, you might be wondering what in the world would a dog have to say about waffles? Just read on and find out. I'm gonna write you a story.

One day Reba went to visit her Grandma HoomanBean, who goes by the name "Nan" fur all her grand kids and even fur her grand dogs. Nan was pretty scared of dogs, especially of big dogs, I don't know why but guess maybe something happened when Nan was younger. Anywoof, Nan is a very good cook and though she is scared of big dogs, she soon realized that Reba was a wonderful dog, as well as beautiful. She was not scared of this dog, well, except maybe of getting knocked down when her favorite Grand dog gets too excited about seeing her, Nan is very tiny and pretty old too. Nan loves to bake and cook fur her favorite Grand dog, so she made Reba a big plate of waffles, slathering them woof butter and pouring over a generous amount of Reba's favorite beef gravy. She even had it served by people in French maid costumes. Reba joyously gobbled all the food down and licked Nan to tell her 'Thank You!" In fact, Reba was so grateful that she even washed the dishes fur her Nan!

"I got a good sale on the ingredients, so I will make a bunch extra for you to take home, Reba Dear!" Nan said as she patted my head and rubbed behind my ears.

Okay, so it's a fiction story... but it never hurts to dream!! Mom 'Bean's Mom really is called Nan by her Grand kids, and I really am her Grand dog. Nan really is scared of big dogs. Woof, okay, so lots is true, but she doesn't love me and she doesn't cook fur me, but sometimes she sends things home woof Mom fur me to eat, things from her freezer that she doesn't want no more. Maybe one day it will be waffles.

Now, leave me some nice words to make my day good... then go visit others playin' Manic Monday.

Manic Monday

Each week, Mo ( It's A Blog Eat Blog World) gives a word for us to post about in any way we choose. This week, with Christmas so close at hand, the word/theme is Candle.

This is Santa Claus and he is watching YOU. See those little beady eyes staring out at you... notice that big electric candle he's using to get a better look at you? Yup, you better be good!!

This big cactus is my friend Candle Abra. His friends call him Candle, and everyone else calls him Mr. Abra. In the back ground is his twin brother. He was adopted out when he was a baby, to the Cane family so they didn't know each other until recently. His name is Can D. Cane. At this time of year, they both like to wear decorations and both insist on wearing those strands of Christmas tree lights. Nature over nurture I guess. Whoof.

Back in the 'old days' before people had electricity, they used candles fur all their lights, even fur the lights on their Christmas tree every year. They also used 'em fur anything where they needed lights to see. Since then, thanks to technology, we now use these electrical things like these little strings of lights on our tree, and flashlights and lamps and all that kinda thing. In many ways, my Mom 'Bean and I would like to have lived in those 'old days' when it was all riding horses and stuff like that... and in many ways we're sure glad we live now days. Arf, arf, arf.
Happy Manic Monday!!

Manic Monday - Colorful & NoBloPoMo - Peace

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

Each week, Mo ( It's A Blog Eat Blog World) gives a word for us to post about in any way we choose. The word this week is colorful.

I think that many things in life, and in fact, life itself, can be very colorful, especially when we allow our selves to enjoy life. To have fun with what is rather than worrying about what could be. Or worrying about what "they" will think of us.

Now, for some Peaceful color in the form of Quotes:

When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.

He who lives in harmony with himself lives in harmony with the world.

Manic Monday & Alphabet Photo Challenge - "E"

Hi. Welcome to my dog blog fur another Dogic... errr... Manic Monday. I hope you enjoy it. Today, Morgen (a.k.a. Mo) at It's A Blog Eat Blog World, has given us the word Fresh to post about and have some fun with fur his Manic Monday Meme.

Usually I write words of some kind to post fur Manic Monday, but today I'm doing piktures as a Fresh approach to this meme, and as a way to tie it in with...

Alphabet Photo Challenge
originated at
Quilly's Pacific Paradise, and runs for the first 26 days of May. Each day you post photos that you took, that have to do with that days letter. Are you interested in viewing my earlier letters?

This pikture was taken at the Dog Park yesterday. It's of me and Wolfie! Wolfie is extremely handsome & elegant, and he's fun to play woof. I like that he never tries to get fresh woof me like some of the other boy dogs do. (Do you know what I mean by get fresh woof me, or do I need to spell it out?)

I was at the Dog Park again today and got Mom to take more piktures. Here everyone is exercising in the fresh air.

Now I'm resting cuz I'm over exercised and fresh out of energy. After a while though, I got up and went running around again... as soon as Mom got off the picnic bench and went woof me, arf, arf, arf.

I hope you liked my Manic Monday
and my Alphabet Photo Challenge "E".

Please leave me your comments
(I love hearing what a good dog I am).

Tomorrow is "F" so remember to come back
and see what I
Find Fur F.

Mom and I decided that most peoples would be posting about earth quakes and quaking in their shoes and stuff like that, so we went to YouTube fur a look around. I hope you like the one I chose. It's a commercial fur a yummy sounding cereal that is no longer in production, so we can't buy it. Darn. I'd like to eat a bowl great big bowl of Quake right now.

Have a woofenderful Manic Monday!!

Manic Monday - 1000 or One Thousand

Today, Morgen (a.k.a. Mo) at It's A Blog Eat Blog World, has given us the word 1000 or one thousand to post about and have some fun with for his Manic Monday Meme (or Challenge, if you prefer).

Recently I heard someone say something about fleas, so asked Mom what that means. She told me they're biting insects that get on critters, 'specially dogs and cats, and that they can get in the carpets and yur bed, and can even bite hoomans too. A long long time ago, Mom lived at a place that she said is in the "lower mainland of BC" and it's lots wetter there than it is here. Always raining and when it does snow in winter it melts away real fast. Anyway, Mom had a dog and cat and a man all living woof her there, and she said that there a lots and lots of fleas there... a real problem. I've never had a flea and my late brother Shadow only had a few in his whole life and never was any problem. The other dog and cat had 1000 or more... that's right One Thousand or MORE ucky fleas!! Well, at least it seemed like that I guess. She said they (the fleas) was all through the carpet and they used to bite Doug's legs all the time (that was the man). But once Mom moved back up here, the fleas quit bothering her critters and she's never had a problem woof them since.

I Googled fleas and found out this stuff that you can read if yur interested... or skip to the bottom. Yur choice.... BARK.

Fleas on dogs and cats! These small dark brown insects prefer temperatures of 65-80 degrees and humidity levels of 75-85%... so for Darn fleas!! some areas of the country they are more than just a “summer” problem. Dogs and cats often get infested with fleas through contact with other animals or contact with fleas in the environment. The strong back legs of this insect enable it to jump from host to host or from the environment onto the host. (Fleas do not have wings so cannot fly!) The flea’s bite can cause itching for the host but for a sensitive or flea-allergic animal, this itching can be quite severe and leads to hair-loss, inflammation and secondary skin infections. Some pets, hypersensitive to the flea's saliva, will itch all over from the bite of even a single flea! The flea information presented here will focus on treatment for and prevention of fleas, which, let’s face it, is just as important to the pet as it is to the pet's caretakers!

How do you know if fleas are causing all that itching (called pruritus)? Generally, unlike the burrowing, microscopic Demodex or Scabies Mites, fleas can be seen scurrying along the surface of the skin. Dark copper colored and about the size of the head of a pin, fleas dislike light so looking for them within furry areas and on the pet's belly and inner thighs will provide your best chances of spotting them. Look for "flea dirt", too. "Flea dirt" looks like dark specks of pepper scattered on the skin surface. See the image of flea dirt near the bottom-right of this article. If you see flea dirt, which is actually flea feces and is composed of digested blood, pick some off the pet and place on a wet paper towel. If after a few minutes the tiny specks spread out like a small blood stain... it's definitely flea dirt and your pet has fleas! Flea dirt may be your only evidence of a flea infestation but believe the evidence! If there is flea dirt there are surely fleas present. You need to begin your war on the pests.

These piktures are from Alta Vista Images. The top one is one flea, but it's a big pikture of a little thing... so we can see it. The bottom one is fleas on some dog's nose. YUCK!!! I'm gettin' itchy just doin' this blog, so gonna say good night now and go outside fur a bit before bed.

Happy Manic Monday every body. Stay Flea Free!!

Manic Monday - Drink

My DOGIC version of...

ImageChef.com Photo Frames

I saw something on the TV news tonight (hey, I watch what Mom watches) about St. Pat's Day and how hoomans drink lots of green stuff, like green beer and wine. Yuck. Just give me water any ol' day of the week.

Anyway, Mom's friend Jamey emailed her some stupid Irish jokes. She took and changed names and a few other words to make them 'genetic' so no one would get offended at 'racist' jokes. She posted 2 of 'em to her blog, then let me have the other 2 to share woof you here, ya hear? (Arf, arf, arf... that was a play on words).

Into a pub comes Joe, looking like he'd just been run over by a train. His arm is in a sling, his nose is broken, his face is cut and bruised and he's walking with a limp.

“What happened to you?" asks Mac, the bartender.
"Jamie Smith and me had a fight," says Joe.
"That little shit, Smith," says Sean, "He couldn't do that to you, he must have had something in his hand."
"That he did," says Joe, "a shovel is what he had, and a terrible lickin' he gave me with it."
"Well," says Mac, "you should have defended yourself, didn't you have something in your hand?"
“That I did," said Joe. "Mrs. Smith's breast, and a thing of beauty it was, but useless in a fight."

A man who had a little too much to drink is driving home from the city one night and, of course, his car is weaving violently all over the road. A cop pulls him over.
"So," says the cop to the driver, “where have ya been?"
"Why, I've been to the pub of course," slurs the drunk.
"Well," says the cop, "it looks like you've had quite a few to drink this evening."
"I did all right," the drunk says with a smile.
"Did you know," says the cop, standing straight and folding his arms across his chest, "that a few intersections back, your wife fell out of your car?"
"Oh, thank heavens," sighs the drunk. "For a minute there, I thought I'd gone deaf."

Mom says that if you don't like the jokes, just go drink some more green beer, cuz drinking lots of green beer makes everything funnier. (Hoomans.... sheeesh!)

Have a WOOFENDERFUL MANIC MONDAY

&

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Manic Monday - Heart

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

The word we get to use today, given to us by Mo (It's A Blog Eat Blog World) is heart. We were going to talk to you about how our Mom sometimes feeds us raw beef heart, but Mom thought that might gross some people out, even though we love heart and liver, as well as any other raw meets. So, now, what can a dog and cat team tell you about hearts? We don't want to talk about something as sad and negative as heart disease, so we'll just hope you have a healthy heart as we all do.

The heart is the 'organ of love', which we think was a good choice.

Can you imagine if the liver had been chosen instead?
Singing a romantic song: "I left my liver.... in San Fransisco. High on a hill, it calls to me...."

or the kidney?
How romantic when your lover whispers to you, "I love you with all my kidney".

or even the bladder?
"Oh darling, my bladder is overflowing with love for you!" How romantic is that?

So we are happy that the heart was chosen cuz it sounds so much better, in our furry opinions.

We love you with all our hearts, and we thank you for coming to our Manic Monday.
Our wish for you is that you get your hearts desire, whatever that might be.

With Love,
Reba & Shadow

Manic Monday

Manic Monday (or as I like to call it, Dogic Monday) is the creation of the Magnificent Mr. Mo (a.k.a. Not The Mama) at It's A Blog Eat Blog World. It's a wonderful and fun way to spend Mondays each week. This week, Mo has chosen wish as the word we work/play with.

could

I hope you were able to read my message. It was wooofenderfully fun to make it for you. I wish I could eat bags full of doggie cookies and have raw meat for dinner every night. I even like to eat some raw vegetables and fruits. Mom says it's healthy for me to eat raw stuff. I just think it tastes really good. I am a dog woof discerning tastes, arf, arf, arf. I know that I am very blessed to get the raw food that Mom is able to give me, and to get regular dog food the rest of the time. I gets a doggie cookie every night before bed and I love it.

Have a 'woofenderful' week!

Learn more about Manic Monday here.

Now that I'm 9 years old, I'm considered an old dog. I know I have some years left, though not as many as I have behind me. I'm past middle age. I am lucky that I will always have my hooman Mom to look after me, no matter how old I get. Mom won't always have someone to look after her and will have to one day go into a 'home'. If you are like my Mom, you might want to take a look at senior living arrangements now and plan ahead.
