Dog Perk

Today Mom had to go to where her our trike is being built fur us. It's coming along really well. It's been at the welders shop and now is almost ready to leave there & go back to Tuggy's place where he will do the rest of the work. They used some parts from a Datsun car and will need a part from a tractor. I think they should have used Ferrari parts, but that's just my opinion. At least the ugly Datsun & tractor parts will be hidden underneath where I will be riding.

I know this is not a good photo... even a dog can tell a good one from out of focus one, but Mom's camera didn't want to focus on it so we got what we got and I'm showing it to you anyway.

Tuggy drew this pikture of what he has in mind fur our trike. This is the dog rack on the back. It'll be like the box of the truck woof a rack on it, so like I ride in all summer anyway. It will be 4' wide by about 3', so plenty of room fur me to be comfortable.

Yup, having a trike built fur me is one nice perk to being my Mom's dog. A perk to being Tuggy's friend is that he bought me a pigs ear to chew. Yup, I'm one very spoiled dog and I deserve it all.

Burning Fat

Walking & swimming are two of the best fat burners I know of. Since I don't like swimming, I like to go fur long walks in the park, and just wade a bit in the creek to cool my feet down. Mom likes these walks too. Also, she likes to go to the pool to swim or to do Aqua Therapy where a lady tells a bunch of people in the pool how to gently exercise their bodies in the water. This is good cuz the body becomes very buoyant in the water so you don't feel that it's hard at all, and the water gives the muscles something to work against. It's very good for all the joints & muscles and even the heart & lungs. Mom's doctor is very happy that Mom is doing this, and that she goes to TOPS to Take Off Pounds Sensibly. She has got rid of 18 pounds of ugly fat since she joined there in January this year, and is keeping her blood sugars down real good too. I want to go fur more walks, but Mom says it's way too cold out there right now, and it gets dark too early. Go figure.

Dog Day Sunday

Yesterday was a great day. I got to go woof Mom in our truck when she went to the Centre fur Sunday Service. I waited in the truck like a good dog. I have a real great bed in there so I got to snooze and to watch the world go by. When Mom finally came out she got into the truck and we drove to get her a cup of tea at Subway, then up to the dog park. It's been awhile since we were up there last so we were surprised to see some changes there. We knew they were gonna be done, but it was still interesting to see them done. They put up fences to encourage peoples and their dogs to stay on park property instead of going onto private property that we didn't know was. They also put in 2 big bridges fur people to cross the creek. So now if we leave the field and go into the bush, we just walk up a ways then cross on the bridge and walk up the other side. Up a ways further, cross again on next bridge and walk up a path that didn't used to even be there. It goes a long ways and is a very nice hiking trail, some up hill, some down, some flat, several little bridges crossing little bitty creeks. It was a real nice walk. I'm starting to feel more like a old dog though, so as much as I needed and loved going fur that nice walk, I was moving pretty slow and having a limp by last night and still today.

Today I got to go woof Mom & Tuggy when they went to pick up Mom's new motorcycle. I got out of the truck and fully enjoyed running around the yard while they worked. I even got into the trailer to see if I could help, but they said no, I'd be in the way. After that, we drove it to a welder's shop so he can work on it. That was a pretty long drive. We brought the trailer home & Mom let me out. After I had a pee & a drink she tried to put me back into the truck but I didn't want to go so she put me into my dog run. Then she got into the truck and drove away again. Not sure what's woof that. I usually want to go woof Mom all the time... just didn't feel up to jumping into the truck I guess. Too much like work when yur tired and sore from walking too far.

Dog Park

Whoof!! I thought I'd show you all some piktures I had Mom take at my dog park the other day. You'll get to see some of why I like it there so much.... oh ya, and the dogs and walking are good too. Arf, arf, arf.

Thank You Quilly

I send great big THANK YOUs and major Puppy Love to Quilly!!

Quilly is so nice that she sent me some money towards buying medicines fur me. This is a good thing cuz Mom's bank account it empty now, and I need more Auntie Biotics and that will be about another $80 or $90. Mom is trying to find/scrape together money to buy it fur me cuz the vet said it's real important to keep me on them to make sure every little backteria is gone from inside me. She still wants to do blood tests to find out why I got New Monia, to try to stop me from getting it again. That has to wait though cuz my medicines come first, and that will be another $110. Soooooo, while I am getting better now, I'm not 'out of the woods' yet.

See.... if you go across this creek, on the bridge of ice and snow that Mother Nature put there fur everyone to use, then up the creek into the woods....

... you'll find me. Up the Creek, and not out of the Woods.

Mom had truck insurance, and home insurance, but no insurance fur taking us critters to a vet. She is going to look into this fur the future, though... but fur now has to pay the existing bills.

Fur anyone who would like to make a donation like Quilly did, I will post everyones name here, and even put you on my sidebar, like woof Quilly (be sure to go visit her blog).... unless you say not to fur some reasons. It's my way of 'paying it furward'.

Thanks fur all the good wishes fur me to get better again. I sure am looking forward to being healthy again. I sleep a lot right now, and that helps.

Feetsaball at the Dog Park.

Today Mom & I met our friends Wendy & Steel up at the dog park. We started out walking up one side, then walked along the back end til we got to the far back corner (we are blessed to have a big dog park) where we found some dogs playin' feetsaball. The had a man throwing the feetsaball fur them and they'd run after it. Steel really liked that idea, so joined right in. I never rand after the ball as much as some of the others, like Steel and Max. Those two boys was crazy fur that ball. You can click on the piktures to make 'em bigger so you kin see 'em better if you like. Yup, these iz real dogs, not just cardboard displays lookin' like dogs.

Max, the "yeller dawg" is out in front here. The feetsaball is out in the snow.

Feetsaball's in the air and they're off!!

Max has the ball and Steel wants it. Some of us are just watchin' to see what happens here.
We're all moving so fast that we're a bit blurry to the hooman eye, but you get the idea.
Steel has the feetsaball, Max wants it back.
This is me on my Petting Break.
WoooHooo... the game is on again!! and Steel's got the feetsaball.
It's a Tug-O-War between Max & Steel!! Here's me nipping at Max. I don't know the name of the other dog watchin' in this pikture. We didn't have time fur exchanging names in the middle of a Feetsaball game.

Here we was all pretty sure Steel was about to loose the Tug-O-War cuz Max had a mouth full of the ball and Steel just had a wee bit of the end of it.
Yet somehow the game went on...
... and on.
We were all pretty excited, lots of barking and hoomans laughing and talking. We don't know how he managed to do it, but in the end, Steel ran away woof the feetsaball... the winner.
If you look close, you'll see the feetsaball in the air in this pikture, and everyone, specially Steel and Max are after it again. We would'a played like this all day but Wendy got a phone call and had to leave, so Mom & I went too.

A good time was had by all, dogs and hoomans alike. Tonight, Mom is in bed early woof a sore back and I'm in bed early cuz I'z tired. Good thing we have a laptop woof wireless internet so we can blog in bed. Arf, arf, arf.

Thinking

Whoof!! So, how are you folks today. I've been missing you lately. You must all be very busy. That seems to be going around lately. Bark.

I sure am glad I have a nice fur coat to wear every day, all day. It's getting cold where I live and I can't always stay inside the house where it's warm. I am happy that I get to live in the house a lot of the time, though.

I hope we get to go to the dog park tomorrow. Mom took me there a couple days ago and I sure liked having my walk again. I could go there every day if I had the chance. Some of the dogs I see there are so over weight that it must be unhealthy fur them. I sure am happy I still have my puppyish figure. I guess that's cuz I am a very active dog and get lots of exercise. My "Mom 'Bean" said I will never need Lipovox to help me burn fat like some people do. I would get more exercise right here at home if Mom would quit yelling at me when I start to chace the cat. Arf, arf, arf. Whoof!

Peace and Lack Of It

"In the goodness of time, all peoples will come to live together in a peace guaranteed by the binding force of mutual respect and love."

-- Dwight D. Eisenhower --

The thing I would like to do most is to find somehow to bring peace to the world. It has eluded me.

-- Lyndon Baines Johnson
--

We must shift the arms race into a 'peace race'.
-- Martin Luther King, Jr. --

Whooof!! That peace race is one race this dog would like to run in. I've never run a race, but I would run in that one. Today Mom took me to the dog park fur a nice walk and to play woof my doggy friends. There were 2 dogs that live together and they run together and it looks like they're racing all the time. They both fun full out, fast as they can, streaking across the feild. It was kinda fun to watch. If I was younger maybe I would've raced 'em. Arf, arf.

Mom's parrot, DW, is being very bad lately. She's ripped wallpaper off the wall in several places, and she she keeps chewing 5h3 2ooe q4oune the mirror on the livingroom wall. Mom is not happy and keeps trying to find a way to stop her from doing this bad stuff, but so far the only thing that works fur any time at all is locking the feathery fiend into her cage. However, then DW starts to shreek some and that's not a nice sound and no one here feels peaceful when that is going on. We sure would like some good ideas on how to stop her from doing this damage.

New Critter In The House

Today Mom and I drove to town to meet Wendy and Shadow at the dog park. It was fun playing woof Shadow and some of the other dogs there. I don't know if I've ever told you, but I love going to the dog park. BARK! I even played woof a ball fur a while there today. I'm not real interested in balls, but once in a while I start to get 'into' them. Shadow loves playin' woof balls, so I started to a bit today, but he kept getting it before I could. Sometimes he's drop it by his feet and I'd go to pick it up but he'd grab it. He was just teasin' me woof that silly ball.

After the dog park, we went over to their house fur awhile. I stayed in the truck and Shadow went into his run in the back yard. Mom and Wendy went inside the house. When they came out, Mom had a bird in a box and a bucket woof bird food and gravel. Wendy brought a cage. It turns out that this bird (Taz, a 2 year old by Cockatiel) came home to live woof us. The cage has to go back to Wendy after Mom gets him another cage, so she's gonna look fur a good used one. She'll find one somewhere.

It was a good day!

A Beautiful Saturday Arfternoon

Hi everyone. I want to say thanks to all the peoples that left me comments lately. You all make this ol' dawg feel pretty good.

Yesterday, I had such fun. I gots a great surprise. Mom took me to town woof her in our truck (not the surprise) and we went to her friend Wendy's house to pick up her... and her DAWG! (yup, that's the surprise). Wendy has 2 German Shepard boy dogs, Steel and Shadow, but has to take 'em to the dog park one at a time so they don't act bad up there and beat up on other dogs. So, it was Shadow we took woof us. That was kinda confusing fur me cuz Mom 'Bean had a cat named Shadow fur way longer than she's had me. He just died a few weeks ago (see his pikture on my side bar), so it's kinda confusing to hear a dog called by my cat bruvers name. Anyway, he is only nearly 2 and I'm 9, so he's kinda young, but he is kinda cute too... fur a German Shepard boy anyway. But I digress.... So, Mom opens the tail gate and won't let me jump out the truck to play woof this dog and I didn't know what was goin' on. Then Wendy told him to get in the truck woof me. She had to tell him a couple times, then he did it... just jumped right in. Mom drove us all to the dog park and we had so much fun running and playing together. The only problem was he kept jumpin' on me... like he wanted to do IT woof me. WELL!!!! I don't do IT!! Never have and never will, so I find it sooooo aggravating when boy dogs try stuff like that woof me. There's no need fur that kinda rude behavior. Oooops, digressing again. So anyway, Mom & Wendy walked 'round the dog park fur two times, but Shadow and I put on a lot more 'miles' than they did, arf, arf, arf. When we got back into the truck, Shadow understood what was happenin' and jumped right in. When we got back to Wendy's him 'n me didn't want him to get out and me to stay in, so we tried real hard to get us both out, or both stay in together, but finally he had to go. The said we'll get to do it again soon tho.

Then Mom visited in the house fur a long time before we came home to our house.

The End.

Life Stuff

As you all know, I love going to the dog park. Well, I haven't been there for a long time, so am getting really full of energy that I would like to wear off. Mom feels bad that we can't go walking there, but woof the snow and ice it's really hard for her to walk. Her back hurts real bad when she tries and she's so scared that she'll fall down and hurt herself. I hope spring gets here soon. Mom could take me for walks in town I guess, but I'd have to be on lead all the time. I couldn't run free and play woof other dogs, so it wouldn't really give me much exercise, it would mostly frustrate me to have to walk at the speed Mom walks, and on lead to boot. But I still love going for rides in the truck woof Mom. It's fun to ride in the back of the truck and to be real close to Mom. When she gets out to go somewhere, I watch where she goes and I watch and watch until she comes back. I don't like it when I can't be woof her or at least have her in my site. At the dog park I run off from Mom a lot, but I know it's safe there and I know I can run back real fast if Mom needs me.

Angel and I have been getting to be friends. It's weird being a Rottweiler and being friends with a ShitsWho, but it's going that way. Tonight we were playing and Mom & Don were laughing. Angel was running around barking and I'd jump at her and bark just enough to keep her going. She can run around here more than I can, cuz there's just not enough room in the house for me to play like that. But the other night I chased Shadow (Mom's cat) from the kitchen into the living room then back through the kitchen and down the hall into the bedroom. Mom was NOT impressed. She didn't see it as funny like I did.

If you need patches, or if you have patches, then maybe you would like some patch cables. Check out the site and see if you can use some of them.

Beds: Old and New

The bed I sleep in, and have for many years now, once belonged to my Mom & Dad. They slept in it for a lot of years too. I am not sure, but it seems to me Mom said they'd bought it second hand. It is an antique bed with matching 4 drawer highboy, and a vanity and stool. Unfortunately, during one of the moves we made the mirror for the vanity got broken, and Dad through the frame from it into the garbage. I wish I had that frame so I could get it an new mirror.

As much as I love antiques, including my antique bed, I all too often wake up during the night in pain. Rarely if ever do I wake in the morning feeling rested and refreshed from the nights sleep. When I went to my brother's wedding in May, I stayed at the resort where they were wed, and the bed there was the most wonderful, comfortable bed. In the morning when everyone else went for breakfast, I chose to stay in bed. I did not want to get out of it until I had to. Since then I've wanted a bed just like that one. I want a memory foam mattress.

This is my entry into a contest by Pay U2 Blog and BedInABox.com. The prize is a queen size memory foam bed. How cool is that!!!

I'm 63 Dog Years!!!

Hi every critter!! Our internet was broken for days and days... well, almost 3 of 'em anyway. It was awful!!! I couldn't come and post anything and I lost an assignment that would earn me cookies. It was sposed to be done by today. I thought I'd have 'til the end of today, but it's already gone. Whimper Whine. But anyway.....

I turned 9 years old in human years yesterday!! That's about 63 dog years! It's a good thing that I'm still healthy and able to run and play like a puppy, cuz otherwise I might need a stair lift to get up the steps into the house. Getting into the back of our truck would be impossible then without some kind of a lift. I have to be able to jump up into the back of the 4x4 which is much higher than a car or a 2 wheel drive truck. But that's not an issue yet, cuz I'm healthy as all get out and I still run and play like a puppy. In fact, recently I was up at the dog park with Mom again and got to playin' real hard with a couple youngins. We had so much fun and almost knocked people over a couple times cuz we forgot to pay attention to them as we ran and chased each other around. That's hard work for an old woman like me.... arf, arf, arf.

Fitness

The way I like to keep fit is going to the dog park. It's good for me and for Mom cuz she needs to walk too. I like running and playing with all the other dogs up there, and visiting with all their hoomans. This always makes my day on all levels. I feel so wonderful physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually whenever we spend time at the dog park.

Some days, it's rainy and windy, or cold and dreary, or some other reason why we don't go to the dog park. On these kind of days, it would be good to have a treadmill or some fitness equipment.

My beautiful, fit body. Mom loves this one, she thinks I'm so beautiful and she is so lucky. I think she's right

Playing and staying fit

This dog really really does not want to leave the dog park, but it's dad wants to go so is dragging the dog out.

Two Great Days

Two days in a row Mom and I got to go walking in my favorite dog park, the one we always go to.

On Sunday while Mom was in church I waited in the back of the truck and enjoyed watching the world go by. Then our old friend Ron came by and petted me then waited to talk to Mom. She invited him to come with us to the dog park and he said yes. We had a really great walk and even went across the creek and out into the woods beyond. While there I met a new friend who I like a LOT. He's a Great Pyrenees and I think his Mom called him Wilfred or something like that. We were too busy playing for me to remember for sure. We ran and ran together and had so much fun. I missed him when we each had to go, but I did have fun walking with Mom & Ron and playing with other dogs there.

On Monday Mom went to an appointment then we went to the dog park again. We saw some dogs and peeps we know, so we walked with them 2 times around the park, but not out in the woods across the creek this time. I got to see my Great Pyrenees friend again and play a bit again. He's very handsome. I hope we see him again and that Mom has her camera with her so she can take piktures of us, maybe even a video cuz that would be real cool.

After the dog park Monday, we went to Mom's Toastmasters meeting. I waited in the truck. Suddenly clouds came flying up and rained all over the place. This did not make me happy as I didn't want to get wet, but the window was open so I crawled thru it into the cab. I know I'm not 'sposed to do that, but I do it sometimes anyway. When Mom came out she wasn't mad to find me in the cab and instead of making me get back into the back she let me stay in the cab, but not in the front on the seats, she make me stay in the extended part of the cab, behind the seats. I was happy!!! I got to be near Mom while she drove, and I got to stay dry too.

Aren't I Pretty!!

This is me at the dog park the other day. Mom cropped it from another pikture where I was far away... that's the only way she can get a pikture of me cuz I'm camera shy, heehee. See my big smile? I smile a lot. I was in a field of very pretty Buttercup flowers.

Max's B'day

My Mom took me to the Dog Park to walk yesterday. We had a lot of fun. I love goin' to the Dog Park and wish Mom could take me there more often... like every day would be good. It's very pretty there. I get to run and play with all my friends, and make new friends too every time we go there. I don't even have to be on lead cuz all the dogs just run free. It's pretty safe there.

On Friday when we went, it was Max's 3rd B'day. I remember when her turned 2 last year. His Mom had a party for him at the Dog Park; gave doggy cookies to us dogs and frozen cream puffs to our hoomans. They seemed to really like eating those. I would like to eat them too.

This year, Max's mom had a party again. This time she had homemade dog cookies for us and they was ohhhh so goood. And for the hoomans there was hoomans cookies and beers and shooters. My Mom doesn't drink hardly at all ever, but to celebrate Max turnin' 3, she had a shooter. She liked it too, but it hurt her tummy, from what she told me. She has lots a tummy pains and stuff like that. I hope the special vet she's goin' to figures out what causes it so she can feel good again. She's more fun when she's feelin' good.

Anyway, I had Mom take lots o' piktures of my friends so I could show them to you. She usually takes pretty good piktures but we all kept movin' around a lot and real fast, so we blurred some of her piktures... but I'm usin' 'em anyway.

Max, the B'day boy! He's very handsome, but too young for me.

Doggy cookies in the bone shaped tin, hooman cookies in the other tin, and shooters premixed at the booze makers place.

Lucy with the white and Benson behind her. They both had haircuts so I almost didn't recognize 'em. They're usually real hairy, ya see.

Me gettin' a quick sniff 'o Beagle butt. That's Jake.

Here's Lucy and Amy with their mom.

The big yellow dog on the left is Frye, then Amy beside him. Can't tell for sure who is beside the people but think it might be Madison... and Max is the one on the right.

Amy must be tryin' to visit China... or diggin' for mice.

Left is Lucy, then Madison, Amy, Frye, and layin' down in front is Benson.

Max's mom drinkin' a shooter.

This is another Max... he's 1 of 4 dogs in his family.

I got lots more piktures to show you yet, but Mom says I gotta get off the 'puter now cuz she's shuttin' it down and goin' to bed. So you guys come on back soon and see the other ones I'm gonna post soon.

Happy trails to all!! Keep the peace!!
