Life Stuff

Hi. This evening I was reading Mom's email she sent to a friend. You'd be surprised what you can find in the Sent folder. Oh, it's not that we're snooping, it's that it's our job to know what's up woof our Mom in order to protect her and to keep her happy. So, I thought you might like to read what she wrote about us.

I'm rather concerned about my cat Shadow who will be 17 on April 28 this year. He has taken to not eating as of late. All his life he has 'had' to have his milk every night before bed, and this winter he suddenly stopped drinking it. He would still yowl and demand it, but then leave it in the bowl after a sniff. I started giving him raw meat and he loved it for a time, then stopped eating that too. I usually don't buy canned cat food, don't believe in feeding it, but I even broke down and bought him a can of that. The first night he woofed it down, then after that refused to eat any more of it. Through all this he always still ate his crunchies, now I've noticed the last few days that the crunchie level in the bowl does not seem to be going down. I think he is not eating those any more too. He is still drinking water, thank God. Today, before I left for town, I opened a can of salmon and gave his some juice and meat from that, desperate to do whatever it takes to get my 'man' to eat. This evening I was happy to see all that gone, tho there hadn't been a lot in that bowl. I just gave him a bunch more and he is eating it. He's so skinny. I'm going to have to find a way to get him to a vet I guess. It's just so pricey to do so here now. Almost $60 just for the exam, then add a bunch more if they find anything to be done. I called to day and asked how much to get my dog vaccinated... because she hasn't had any shots since she was a puppy and is now 9 years of age, I have to get 3 right away, for parvo and such... add to that the one for kennel cough and one for rabies and I'm looking at $239.53. After that $96.92 for each of the next 2 years and $127.79 the next year (rabies only have to be given every 3rd year). Now I remember why I don't give my animals shots. At one time I always kept the shots up to date.... several animals later, I've never had a health problem with not getting their shots done. My animals live long lives unless hit by cars on this highway. A friend is talking about maybe taking me to Mexico next winter, and if that was to happen, Reba would be going along too, so would have to have shots for that. And now, perhaps I am babbling... that is pretty much a sign that it is past my bed time, haha.

I guess I better find a way to help pay fur my vaccinations and maybe if I chase Shadow some more he'll get hungry and eat more, or he'll have to go to the critter doctor. He is so skinny lately that he's like a skeleton woof fur pulled over it. I know Mom will come unglued when her furry little man goes on to the Rainbow Bridge. She used to pet him before he was even born, then when his birth mother had him and his brothers, she refused to let them out until Mom was there woof her. Moonbeam, Shadow's birth Mom, was before my time here. I know Mom loved her lots too, and loosing her to the highway was very hard on Mom. But enough of that... it's time fur a good, long nap.

Truck Riding

Yesterday Mom took me to town woof her. I love going to town woof Mom and don't like it when she leaves me at home. Anyway, so yesterday she takes me along for the ride. It was such a wonderful, sunny day that when Mom went to go into her Spiritual Centre to do one of her jobs there, she couldn't bring herself to go inside that building. She just had to stay outside and enjoy the warm, sunny day. She phoned her friend PatZ and they arranged to meet and go for a walk woof me. We drove up to the old farm where Mom and PatZ used to have horses. When I was a puppy Mom took me up there to ride horses woof them too. Of course, mostly I ran along side and in front and behind and off to the sides and, well, you get the point. The very first time, though, I was just a baby and got too tired to keep up, so Mom's friend Sandy got off her horse to lift me up to Mom. She thought I'd just be light, but I wasn't, arf, arf. She couldn't hardly lift me, so Mom had to lean down from her horse Whiplash to grab me and pull me up. Sandy must not be very strong, probably cuz she smokes and drinks booze too much. So, I rode on Whiplash woof Mom, across her lap, until I got rested, then almost toppled Mom and her saddle off and under the horse. The cinch had got too loose, from what I remember them saying. I walked the rest of the way home and after that always walked/ran woof them.

Anyway, so Mom & PatZ and I went fur this walk up at the farm, and Hugh came and joined us fur part of the walk. It was so wonderful and I felt so good after it. Mom felt good too, in her mind and her heart and her body.

It sure is a good thing we have car insurance on the truck or it would be not legal to drive it anywhere. Mom needs to get more soon cuz it runs out this month.

We Drove On Water - 2

Here are some more of the piktures Mom took when we were driving out on the lake today. If you want to see the first 10 and to read the story of what we were doin' out on the lake, then scroll down to the post below this one. They were all took by Mom while she sat inside the truck and 'shot' through the open drivers window.

Here's two men and a dawg. Looked to me like they was ice fishin'. Yup, in this part of the world, people actually cut holes in the ice and fish trough the holes.

Our house is just over yonder, behind those trees there.

This guy is taking piktures too!

Lookin' back towards the shore

There is one more pikture that Mom took when we got closer to the land again, just before we drove from the ice back onto good old ground. I think I'll let her post that one on her blog, after all, I'm a dog, not a hog, so I must share... arf, arf, arf.

When we're outside like that, we get to breath fairly fresh air, and that's nice. Mom and I look forward to when we can open the house windows wide and let the winter air out of the house, and the fresh air in. Another way, of course, is to get one of those
air purifiers.

We Drove On Water

This morning I went to Church with Mom, as I often do. Oh, I can't actually go inside, but I like to go anyway and wait in the truck fur her. Then when we were coming home, we stopped at a store so Mom could pick up a few things. After that we were on our way out the highway to where we live and Mom saw some vehicles out on the lake. Just then, we came up to the only public road that goes to that lake, and yup.... we turned down that road. Of course, Mom had her camera and took piktures. Any of them that you click on will get bigger fur you.

Here, we're looking out at some of the vehicles that are on the lake.

Then Mom drove out onto the lake too.

These cars are racing out there on the ice of the frozen lake!!

And these are the trucks and trailers that pull the race cars around.

It sure is purrrrty out here! (There's some cat speak fur you)

Now, I'm gonna post these and then put some more in another post fur you.

I know all those people out there have car insurance, but I don't know if that would pay out for something like having your vehicle break through the ice and end up at the bottom of the lake. I wonder how many of them also have life insurance.

Friday's Feast

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

Appetizer

Have you ever played a practical joke on anyone? If so, what did you do and who was your victim?

Reba: I like to chase Shadow. That's a fun and very practical joke!

Soup

What do your salt and pepper shakers look like?

Shadow: I am a cat... Reba is a dog. Therefor, we don't have salt and pepper shakers. Would they make good toys to play with? If so, we could buy Mom to get us some.

Salad

Where is the next place you plan to visit (on vacation or business)?

Reba: I attempt to go anywhere and everywhere Mom goes. Doesn't always work, but it makes a great vacation for me when I get to go.

Shadow: I was born in this house, the only times I've been off this property is to the vet about 4 times, and I'd rather forget those traumatic events, thanks. Just leave me home and let me die here too... and let Mom stay home with me all the time.

Main Course

What kind of lotion or cream do you use to keep your hands from getting too dry?

Reba & Shadow: We don't have hands and we don't use lotion!!!

Dessert

Make up a dessert, tell us its ingredients, and give it a name.

Critter Comfort

Take 2 pounds raw steak. Cut it into bite size pieces. Feed to your dog and/or cat. We'll, umm, errrr, they'll love you!

We're going to join Mom and her hooman friends at her church in a no whining challenge thing. Mom told her minister, Rev. Dale, about this thing and gave him some info about it. She suggested they start something at church like this and he said yes, if she'll take it on. She's gonna do it, and we want to too.

Now to tag other bloggers like the rules say:

We got company so didn't get to finish the pickin' others to do it. Maybe tomorrow.

A Love Letter

Hi Everyone. It's hard for Reba and I to find stuff to say that you might find interesting. Mom puts all the good stuff on to her blog. I talked to her about this and there are some things she has agreed to let us put up here instead. Check back here from time to time to see the new stuff. While Mom is having a nap and I have the computer, I thought I'd share with you a letter she wrote last night. I found it laying on the couch so figure it's fair game.

Feb. 19, 2008

Hello Sweetheart;

I miss you so, and for now the only contact I can have with you is through letters and in my dreams. Sometimes, when we've been together, I wake up to find myself in my bed with my cat & no sign of you. Whenever I can, I roll over & go back to sleep, to look for you, to be with you once again. Some days, 1 hour, 2 hours, even 5 hours after I get out of bed I find myself going to lie down, to have a nap. I think that much of the time it is because my moments with you are so much better, so much happier & more incredible than my real life. I so look forward to being in your arms again, to feeling your love for me, and to loving you too.
I go now to feed my animals. to get them & myself ready for me to go to bed. I will soon be in the world of Dreamland, my love. I hope to find you there.

Love Always,
Alice

Lately, Mom writes love letters to her soul mate that she hasn't met yet. She says she knows God knows who he is and is bringing them together now. I think this letter started out to be a love letter to that soul mate, and became a love letter to the man in her dreams.

Mom has had some problems with drippy tap in the bathtub, so Dan keeps changing the rubber thingy inside it. One day she'll have to buy new faucets, but hasn't found any around here to fit, so is going to check out Delta faucets. Maybe they'll have some that will work for us.
