What a woofenderful time of year this is. Fur a dog it's really not a lot different than any other time of the year, I must admit, but it seems that lots of peoples are happier this time of year, and reaching out to other peoples to help them. It should be like this all year round, and yet it seems its not. Peoples want to give more to each other and to the 'needy' at Christmas time.

There are also lots of cool movies on TV fur my Mom 'Bean to watch. Tonight she is watching a movie called "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddy's Island Adventure. Cousin Eddy has a handsome boy rottenweiler that I would like to go play woof. He play an important part in the movie, as I think all rottenweilers should. He is a very good dog, and it's good fur peoples to see how nice we rottenweilers really are. We are not all mean, only the ones what have been hurt and mistreated by hoomans are mean and nasty like that. Cousin Eddy treats his dog real good, just like my Mom does woof me.

I loves my Mom 'Bean. Woof!!

Manic Monday

Mr. Mo has chosen tree fur the word fur this weeks DOGIC Manic Monday meme.

This Snowman is taking 2 little Christmas trees to his friends so they can enjoy them too. They are all decorated nice and pretty. If I had apposable thumbs I would decorate a tree too, and here are some things I would put on my Christmas tree.

I guess mice must have apposable thumbs, cuz Mickey & Minnie Mouse are decorating their Christmas tree.

Gotta run now. I have to make a very important trip outside fur a short while.

Teeth

I'm sure glad that dogs don't have to have false teeth. I'm 10 in human years, so that's 70 in dog years and I still have great teeth, nice and clean, in good condition. Mom 'Bean is not so lucky. She's only 52 and fur years has had no teeth on top so has to wear fake ones, and she is missing bottom teeth on one side too. She has a hard time chewing some stuff. I know her false teeth, or plate as it's also called, hurts her mouth a lot, and she has to take it out a lot. No matter what they do they can't get it to fit just right fur Mom cuz she has some extra bones in her mouth. I sure wish she could get some Washington DC dental implants, or any kind of them would do. They put posts in and hook the false teeth to those posts, and from what Mom heard, it's almost like having real teeth again. Ahhhh, if only we had the money fur this kinda stuff.

Christmas Stuffing, and not a turkey

Thank you to everyone that wished me a happy birthday. It sure was, but I would have liked to go fur a walk at my dog park and play woof my friends, but it was too cold out fur Mom to want to go there, or be outside much at all. Oh well, it was a happy day anyway, just bein' woof Mom.

Woof Christmas coming soon, Mom has been looking fur the best buy on anything that will be good presents fur her family what she has to buy stuff fur. She even got me & Mewsic (the cat) each something, but I don't know what it is in those bags. She was going to get the rest of the critters something special too, but now she has to pay off a big vet bill cuz of Cherry Chinchilla, so she said that food can be considered the Christmas presents fur all us critters this year. Oh well, it's just another day anyway.

On Christmas day, Mom goes away fur almost the whole day, and she leaves me home... OUTSIDE!! Ya, I got a dog house to go into, but hey... I mean, it's not heated ya know! I wish she'd just stay home woof us like on other days, but she said she has to spend time woof her human family too, and that I can't stay inside the house all the time cuz I gots to go potties. Darn!

Reba's Birthday... December 14th

Today I turned 10 people years old... that's 70 dog years. I like to still act like a puppy and fool the people at the dog park. Most of 'em try to guess my age and ask Mom if I'm this age or that... most often they guess I'm about 2 years old. I still feel like a puppy most of the time. Life is good!!

I can hardly remember my birth Mom or my brothers & sisters, it seems like I've always been woof Mom 'Bean. Well, I was only 'bout 7 weeks old when Mom came and adopted me from my birth family. We both sure are glad she did that.

Manic Monday

Each week, Mo ( It's A Blog Eat Blog World) gives a word for us to post about in any way we choose. This week, with Christmas so close at hand, the word/theme is Candle.

This is Santa Claus and he is watching YOU. See those little beady eyes staring out at you... notice that big electric candle he's using to get a better look at you? Yup, you better be good!!

This big cactus is my friend Candle Abra. His friends call him Candle, and everyone else calls him Mr. Abra. In the back ground is his twin brother. He was adopted out when he was a baby, to the Cane family so they didn't know each other until recently. His name is Can D. Cane. At this time of year, they both like to wear decorations and both insist on wearing those strands of Christmas tree lights. Nature over nurture I guess. Whoof.

Back in the 'old days' before people had electricity, they used candles fur all their lights, even fur the lights on their Christmas tree every year. They also used 'em fur anything where they needed lights to see. Since then, thanks to technology, we now use these electrical things like these little strings of lights on our tree, and flashlights and lamps and all that kinda thing. In many ways, my Mom 'Bean and I would like to have lived in those 'old days' when it was all riding horses and stuff like that... and in many ways we're sure glad we live now days. Arf, arf, arf.

Rules Fur Dogs

A Dog's Rules For Christmas

1. Be especially patient with your humans during this time. They may appear to be more stressed-out than usual and they will appreciate long comforting dog leans.

2. They may come home with large bags of things they call gifts. Do not assume that all the gifts are yours.

3. Be tolerant if your humans put decorations on you. They seem to get some special kind of pleasure out of seeing how you look with fake antlers.

4. They may bring a large tree into the house and set it up in a prominent place and cover it with lights and decorations. Bizarre as this may seem to you, it is an important ritual for your humans, so there are some things you need to know:

a. Don't pee on the tree

b. Don't drink water in the container that holds the tree

c. Mind your tail when you are near the tree

d. If there are packages under the tree, even ones that smell interesting or that have your name on them, don't rip them open

e. Don't chew on the cord that runs from the funny-looking hole in the wall to the tree

5. Your humans may occasionally invite lots of strangers to come visit during this season. These parties can be lots of fun, but they also call for some discretion on your part:
a. Not all strangers appreciate kisses and leans

b. Don't eat off the buffet table

c. Beg for goodies subtly

d. Be pleasant, even if unknowing strangers sit on your sofa

e. Don't drink out of glasses that are left within your reach

6. Likewise, your humans may take you visiting. Here your manners will also be important:

a. Observe all the rules in #4 for trees that may be in other people's houses. (4a is particularly important)

b. Respect the territory of other animals that may live in the house

c. Tolerate children

d. Turn on your charm big time

7. A big man with a white beard and a very loud laugh may emerge from your fireplace in the middle of the night. DON'T BITE HIM!!
