Happy Birthday, Jeremy

Tomorrow is April Fools Day.... it is also my wonderful nephew Jeremy's birthday.  I wish I could buy him something really nice, like a car or a newer truck, but I can't.  I would even be happy to give him a new iphone case, if I was sure he had that kind of phone.  Unfortunately, as much as I love this awesome young man, I don't get to see him very often as we don't live close to each other, so I don't know what he does or doesn't have.... and of course, whatever I would give has to fit in my budget.  I guess I will just send him copious amounts of LOVE and HAPPY THOUGHTS for his birthday as I do for every other day and for all my family members.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JEREMY!!!

Payback!!!

A friend of mine has done a lot of work on my trike for me and up until now only charged me for his supplies, his out of pocket money.  In return I have mended 3 or 4 pairs of pants for him, and now it the big pay back.  On Monday I went to his place and started doing inventory in his small engine repair business.  There are shelves and shelves of bits, pieces, parts, etc. for his business as well as some for fixing his truck, motorcycles, and a few other things he does.  I put in 3 3/4 hours working there on Monday, then went back again today and put in another 3 1/2 hours and I have only just begun!  There is a dent in the job, but ever so much more to do... then I will begin data entry into his computer, entering all of his equipment and supplies into his computer, using a program I've never head of and he doesn't know how to use.  I sure hope it's easy!!

Keeping In Touch

When I am out and about on my trike in the summer months, I meet a lot of people and some of these people I would like to keep in touch with.  They are people I would like to exchange emails with and one day meet again.  In these kinds of situations, I either do nothing, or I dig around for some paper scrap in my purse and a pen with which to quickly scribble down my information.  I have often thought it would be a good idea to have some business cards with me, maybe some translucent plastic business cards would be nice... or maybe I should call them by some other name since I don't have a business, lol.

Exercising

Last night I did 1/2 hour on the exercise bike, and did my stretching exercises for my neck, wrists and back.  It felt good and I planned to do this every day.  Today, though I did do the stretches, I didn't get the exercise bike done early so planned to get it done this evening after I got home.  Well, I forgot to do it until just now.  It is too late now to do it as I have to get to bed so I can get up early tomorrow and be off and running for a long day. I will do my best to fit in a 1/2 hour ride tomorrow... or even a 15 minute ride would be better than nothing, or 2 rides each 15 minutes long, fitting them in where I can through the day.  It's a goal to work towards.

Using Internet

I heard on the TV something about, of all people in the world, Canadians are the ones that most use the internet for research and such like that, while not doing a lot of online purchasing. I know that I do fit the stats talked about since I do a lot of research and other online things, yet rarely buy anything online.  If I hear some vitamin or herb is good for me, I do go online and research what all it is supposedly good for, what are its health benefits.  I do a lot of reading of various different things that sound interesting to me.  If I wanted information on an austin food allergist, or a vice busting diet, or even how to grow a plant I would go do my research through the internet.  I have purchased a few things, including a book or two, but rarely do I buy online. I guess I'm just used to doing it the old fashioned way, drive to town and buy what I want or need locally.  I like to look at and feel what I am going to buy.

Spring Arrives

This is a post I put on my Facebook earlier today, I think just after noon:

Last night, just after 10pm, Spring officially arrived. This makes today the first full day of Spring 2012. I got up and looked out the window to see.... fresh snow on the ground!!! This is crazy!!! Now, it is melted away and the sun is shining, so it is a beautiful afternoon!! I think I'll go out and do some work in my garden!!

I did finally get out to my garden, just before 7pm.  I got 2 raised bed gardens (bathtubs) ready to plant in, so soon will have my spinach seeds in the ground.  I saw a kale plant in one of the other tubs, I planted kale last year and see it must have seeded itself or that plant has survived the winter out there. Hmmmm. Time to plant more kale as well as lettuce and chard.  I haven't had much luck with peas in the past, but might try them again, get all these 'cool weather' plants in the ground early.

Next Blog

At the top of the blog page are different links one can click on. I just decided to click on "Next Blog" as I wanted to open another page in a new tab. The blog that came up is KT DID: Life's Ride As I See It. I haven't taken much time to read yet, but have seen that it is largely about motorcycles. That grabs my attention as I LOVE riding my trike!! (3 wheeled motorcycle).

I again clicked on "Next Blog" to open in a new tab, wanting to save KT DID for later reading. What came up this time? Saul T Nutz Racing, about motorcycles and racing on the Salt Flats of Utah.

Next click brought me to Ottonero.... more motorcycles!!! Another "Next Blog" brought me to Advanced Motorcycle Training, a site from the UK.

Okay... now I know I have to blog about this!!! I'm about to click again and see what the Next Blog will be...

NTU Vespa Club.... yes, another motorcycle blog, this one in Singapore. "Next Blog"...
And there it all came to an end..... the next blog is not about motorcycles... sigh. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!!

Life is a Zoo!!

Welcome back to The Zoo!! Things have been a bit wild around here again lately. For example: I got an email one evening from my eldest sister, it had been sent to all my siblings and a few of their children. It said that she, Anne, had taken Mom to the hospital and that her heart rate was very erratic with her blood pressure being extremely high. The doctor had given her meds and she was being kept in hospital for observation. The next day another email, the doctor decided that, since the blood tests showed a certain chemical in Mom's blood, it meant she had experienced a mild heart attack. At age 88 years, there is no such thing as a minor heart attack so we were all worried. Mom was in hospital 4 days, then when she went home all she did was lay on the couch with her children, at least the ones that live close enough, taking turns looking after her and spending the night at her place. Even my younger came out from northern Alberta to visit and look after Mom for about 6 days. Then we got another email. Mom had been to see her own doctor and had gotten the results of some more tests that had been done while she was in the hospital. It turns out that there was not enough of the chemical in her blood stream to actually indicate a heart attack, and her heart is still in very good shape, so there was no heart attack. So why did she have such crazy out of whack heart rate and blood pressure?? We'd like to know that too, but there is nothing to indicate the cause of that. We are left wondering.... and we are very grateful that Mom still has a good heart!! Mom's mother died of a heart attack and I think Mom was probably thinking a lot about that until she got her results. I haven't seen Mom since she got the last results, though I was one that went and looked after her. I have heard she is getting out for short walks and working at rebuilding her strength. She was very week after all of this, but I think she will not remain so for long.
