Unique Play Mates

Day 29

"I Come in Peace."

Stuart Brown describes Norbert Rosing ' s striking images of a wild polar bear coming upon tethered sled dogs in the wilds of Canada ' s Hudson Bay

The photographer was sure that he was going to se e the end of his dogs when the polar bear wandered in.

The Polar Bear returned every night that week to play with the dogs.

May you always have love to share,

Health to spare, and friends that care.

Sweet. Perhaps that polar bear has cause to harbor friendly feelings toward dogs.

I loved these photos and the story when I first happened upon them some time ago and am delighted to be reminded of this amazing event this morning ... on the first day of Advent (and the last of NaBloPoMo). I've created some '2008 badges' and shared them at Small Reflections and Sacred Ruminations. You're welcome to encourage 'mom' to snag & enjoy one or both as you wish. Hugs and blessings,

These photos are awesome! I hope to watch the polar bears, and the penguins, soon. If any still shots are suitable to show to preschoolers could I print some? I have one of a poor bear at a zoo in South America who turned purple after being given medicine. I love telling my class that I lived with polar bears.

Wow! This is so cool. We can really find a lot of wonderful amazing things in animal kingdom. If the two predators can find peace between each other, why can't we humans do the same? Why is it that it is always hard for humans...
