Camera Critters #2

This is the third week of Camera Critters, a new meme/challenge in the bloggesphere, and it's all about photos of animals/critters. I missed the first week, so today is my second post. This is a Sunday post each week, and for more information, or to play along, you can check it out by clicking on the banner above.

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, well, by dog years anyway, but not so long ago by hooman years... May 2007, my Mom 'Bean and I went on a the best holiday I've ever been on. Well, okay, so it was the only holiday I've ever been on. Anyway, we went to the Kootenays. That's in the province of British Columbia (BC) Canada. It was a long drive... about 4 1/2 hours, and we stayed woof our friend Cam. We were gone almost a week and had a woofenderful time. We even met Claire, all the way over her from her home in Scotland. That's like another world to a dog.

This is me in our truck. Mom took the canopy off fur the summer and built this rack... just fur me to enjoy the summer and be able to go more places woof her. She put a blanket over top to give me shade when it got hotter, and a tarp when it rained so I'd stay dry. We were on a ferry boat here, going across the Lower Arrow Lake.

This is me. We were on a woofenderful walk that day.

On our way home we say lots and lots and lots of deer... and even more than that. Anyway, this one Mom took a picture of. We stopped driving and Mom took the picture through the windshield of the truck. Then she drove closer and was hanging out the driver's window about to take another one... the deer didn't even care until a noise car came along and scared the deer away.

This is a different deer. By this time I'd started barking at the deer when Mom 'Bean went to take pictures of them. I got excited 'bout it all.

Happy Camera Critters day!!!

Friday Fill-Ins ( #4 fur me)

1. When I fell in love we knew it could never last. I was spayed and he wasn't. I am Rottweiler, he a German Shepard!
2. I could care less when the flowers bloom and it heats up outside!
3. Oh no! The internet connection is down, so I can't order a big box of doggie cookies before Mom notices her credit card missing.
4. Because I sleep through it all, I don't know which is the craziest tv show ever.
5. Cheese and pretty much any kind of people food make a great meal!
6. We don't have a garden.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleeping, tomorrow my plans include hanging out in my dog run and Sunday, I want to have a sunny day so Mom 'Bean will take me fur a nice long walk!

For more information on this, or for more players, and if you want to play too, go check out Friday Fill-Ins!

Manic Monday - Quake

Hi. Welcome to my dog blog fur another Dogic... errr... Manic Monday. I hope you enjoy it. Today, Morgen (a.k.a. Mo) at It's A Blog Eat Blog World, has given us the word bud to post about and have some fun with for his Manic Monday Meme (or Challenge, if you prefer).

Mom and I decided that most peoples would be posting about earth quakes and quaking in their shoes and stuff like that, so we went to YouTube fur a look around. I hope you like the one I chose. It's a commercial fur a yummy sounding cereal that is no longer in production, so we can't buy it. Darn. I'd like to eat a bowl great big bowl of Quake right now.

Have a woofenderful Manic Monday!!
(or Dogic Monday, or Catic Monday, or Womanic Monday)

Camera Critters #1

This is the second week of Camera Critters, a new meme/challenge in the bloggesphere, and it's all about photos of animals/critters. I missed the first week, so today is my first post. This is a Sunday post each week, and for more information, or to play along, you can check it out by clicking on the banner above.

My Mom 'Bean took these piktures on June 23, 2005. She was in a nearby town woof my Nan (her Mom) and this gull just walked right up to her and posed so Mom 'Bean could take these photos of it (him or her, I don't know which). If I had been there, I'd have had fun barking at this bird, and if I was free, I'd chase it. Not to catch it, just fur the fun and exercise involved. Anyway, I think they're kinda nice photos.

Next week maybe I'll show you some of the other critters that live here woof Mom and me, but fur now I thought it would be fun to show you these.

Have a Woofenderful week!

Mom Needs HELP

Hi everyone. Mom and I both did a lot of blogging this week, and we did a lot of memes. We did Manic Monday, Heads or Tails, Thursday 13, Friday Fill-Ins and Friday's Feast. At some point, in all the hundreds of other peoples blogs we visited, we saw a couple blogs that had done a 'newer' photo meme that is done on Sundays. It's about posting photos of critters. Mom and I want to do this one, hey, Critters R Us around here, so we never have any lack of piktures we can post of critters that live or have lived here woof us, or of critters in fields or at other peoples homes.

What we need help woof is finding it again. We thought we saved the link to the web site, but now we can't find it! This is TERRIBLE.... we really, really, REALLY want to do this meme, so need help to find it again. If you know any thing about this, please leave a message fur me. THANKS.

EDIT: Never mind... I sniffed it out fur Mom, so we got it now. Camera Critters is the one Mom was lookin' fur. We'll both be posting some piktures here on Sunday.

New Critter In The House

Today Mom and I drove to town to meet Wendy and Shadow at the dog park. It was fun playing woof Shadow and some of the other dogs there. I don't know if I've ever told you, but I love going to the dog park. BARK! I even played woof a ball fur a while there today. I'm not real interested in balls, but once in a while I start to get 'into' them. Shadow loves playin' woof balls, so I started to a bit today, but he kept getting it before I could. Sometimes he's drop it by his feet and I'd go to pick it up but he'd grab it. He was just teasin' me woof that silly ball.

After the dog park, we went over to their house fur awhile. I stayed in the truck and Shadow went into his run in the back yard. Mom and Wendy went inside the house. When they came out, Mom had a bird in a box and a bucket woof bird food and gravel. Wendy brought a cage. It turns out that this bird (Taz, a 2 year old by Cockatiel) came home to live woof us. The cage has to go back to Wendy after Mom gets him another cage, so she's gonna look fur a good used one. She'll find one somewhere.

It was a good day!

If you have a family, it might be a really good idea to check out these life insurance quotes. You never know what could happen.

I don't know what this meme is called...

...but I found it over at Trav's Thoughts, and dragged it home woof me.

You're feeling: Sleepy and content. I had a good run at the Dog Park woof my friend Shadow (he's a German Shepard).

To your left: The rocking sofa chair.

On your mind: I'm wondering if I'll just get a doggy cookie fur bedtime snack tonight, or will I get an apple or some other good tasting stuff.

Last meal included: Dry dog kibble... but a bit before that I had my desert. Mom drove us through McDonald's fur her dinner, and ordered a baby ice cream cone fur me. She asked the young man (boy) in the drive-thru window to give it to me as she pulled up so my window would be by his. He was so excited and happy that he said "hold on, I'm going to make another one" and then he gave me 2 more. WOW 3 ice cream cones.

You sometimes find it hard to: answer some of these questions.

The weather: Sun, Clouds, Wind, and even a bit of snow today. Weird!

Something you have a collection of: bones.

A smell that cheers you up: people food.

A smell that can ruin your mood: cigarette smoke.

How long since you last shaved: Arf, arf, arf. I don't shave, silly rabbit.

The current state of your hair: Short, black, some places a red-ish brown. Always neat and tidy.

The largest item on your desk/workspace (not computer): Well, being a dog, I guess my workspace is the floor, so in the living room it's the couch and in the bedroom it's Mom's bed.

Your skill with chopsticks: I am very skilled woof those wooden chopsticks. I can chew 'em up in no time flat.

Which section to head for first in a bookstore: it's a toss up between the books about food, or the books about dogs.

Something you're craving: a good raw steak. Dog, would that go down well!!

Your general thoughts on the presidential race: zzzzzzzzzzZZZZZzzzzZZZZ.

How many times have you been hospitalized this year: None. Haven't even been to the vet either. I'm healthy.

Favorite place to go for a quiet moment: my bed in Mom's bedroom.

You've always secretly thought you'd be a good: Police dog or maybe a drug sniffing dog. You see, I have a very good nose and am very good at sniffing.

Something that freaks you out a little: nothing I've found so far.

Something you've eaten too much of lately: well that's just silly. As a dog, there is nothing I've ever eaten too much of, and in fact, I'm not sure there is such a thing. I eat 'til it's all gone or 'til I've had enough, whichever comes first, and never over eat.

You have never: liked being separated from Mom 'Bean.

You never want to: be separated from Mom 'Bean.

That was fun! Feel free to play along if you like. Just let me know you did so I can follow yur scent back to yur blog and read it.

Have a woofenderful weekend!

"Mom 'Bean" on Mother's Day Gifts

Is there a Mother in the house??

My mother is in her 80s, while the mother in your house might be much younger and have just had her first baby. Regardless of her age or how many children she has had, regardless whether you are her husband or her child, she is going to want a nice gift this coming Mother's Day. You can get her flowers that will die in a couple days, or you can get her a gift that will last for years to come.

A great idea of a gift that will last for years to come, that will touch any mother's heart and always make her think of her "baby" no matter how old he/she is now, is birthstone jewelry.

There are several very nice items on this web site for you to check out if you want to purchase a nice, long lasting gift that will thrill the mother in your life, be it your mother or the mother of your children. Trust me, she will value this gift for so much longer than she could dead flowers.

THE PURPOSE BEHIND THE THURSDAY THIRTEEN:

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. What do you do? My Mom (I sometimes call her Mom 'Bean cuz she's a hooman bean) loves critters, and this is a good thing cuz as a dog, I is a critter. Mom 'Bean loves me to bits and bits and beyond. Anyway.... I'm gonna give you a list of critters she either has now (HN), has had (HH), or wants to have (WH). I guess there's even some she is getting in the next little while, so I'll call them (IG).

1- cat (HH), (WH). She wants to get a Bengal Cat one day before too long.

2- dog (HN)... ME silly, arf, arf, arf.

3- rabbit (HH), (HN). She used to raise rabbits, so had as many as 100 at times, now only has one that lives in the house too. Her name is Grace Hawk.

4- chinchilla (HN). Mom has 5 chinchillas. Daisy, Sheri, Smudge, Charlie and Cherry.

5- budgie birds (HN). She has Lady Bird and Tom Tom.

6- horse (HH) (WH). Mom has had horses in her past and I remember when I was a pup that we went riding horses lots. My first time I was real little and got too tired to keep up, so Mom had to carry me on her horse fur awhile.

7- chickens (HH). She might have some again one day cuz she loved 'em, but isn't sure yet.

8- goat (HH) (WH) Mom likes goats. She had one miniature goat fur awhile before I was here and would like to have some again.

9- donkey (WH) Mom 'Bean thinks they're really cute and would be fun to have.

10- pig (HH) (WH). She loved her piggies that she had and would like to have a couple little mini pigs as pets, just fur the fun of it.

11- fish (HH) Mom has fishies before and really likes 'em but they always dye on her, so she doesn't want no more of 'em.

12- cockatiel (IG). Mom's friend Wendy is giving us a cockatiel named Taz. He's about 2 or 3 years old, I forget what they said. Wendy has Taz's mom & dad who no longer want him livin' in the cage woof them.

13- parrot (IG) A friend of Mom's has a sister who's movin' out here and has 2 parrots. She needs someone to look after 'em while they're movin'. Her mom and mine will each take one. If Mom falls in love woof it in the 3 months she's gonna be lookin' after it, then she can keep it if she wants to. I think she'll want to.

If you want to get healthy and slim down, you might find it good to have one of these home gyms

Just a Note

Heads or Tails (#3 fur me)

Follow this link to read what Heads or Tails is about, or to find other players of the game. This is a great game and this week's theme/prompt is:

HEADS - Tip
*OR*
TAILS - Anything that rhymes with Tip.

Well, I'm a dog so I have a head and a tail... yup I do. Well, not much of a tail, cuz it was docked when I was a tiny baby puppy. I don't really even remember it, to tell the truth. My tail had a tip, I guess, but it doesn't any more, cuz that tip got cut off along woof the rest of the tail except fur a short stub... that's what docking the tail is all about. Both of my ears still have a tip on 'em though, so guess that counts fur something. There's also a tip on the end of each toe nail. Mom tries sometimes to cut my toe nails, but I fight her real hard whenever she touches my feet. I just don't like anyone touching my toes. Mom 'Bean took me to a dog grooming place once to get the tips cut off my toe nails, and woof both Mom and that lady, they just barely got them kinda cut a bit.

When I run on hardwood floors, I slip.
Last May Mom and I went on a trip, by truck not by ship.
Some dogs up at the park yip.
My hair is short, so never needs a snip or a clip.
I could go on, but then you might think I'm a drip.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
Mom's body has really been terribly sore the last few days and today her friend Dan suggested she soak in a tub, but she won't. She said our tub is too short and uncomfortable, so always makes her hurt worse. I bet she sure would love a nice new walk in tub.
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Unique Pain In The Butt

There is a guy and his dog living in a little trailer in our lower yard. The dog is a girl Boxer called Unique, and she is about a year or so old. She is real friendly and likes my Mom 'Bean. I like pretty much all other dogs and I don't mind when they come over to Mom fur some patting. At the dog park there's lots of other dogs and we all get along just fine, even the ones that go visit Mom. Before when that little ShitZoo, Angel, was living here, I didn't mind her at all. She was also a girl about a year old. She came into our house and I never minded that, and we even played a bit. But there is something about Unique that I just don't like. When she's around I gets my hair up on my back, along the back bone, and I snarl and growl and bark at her. I even jump on her and push her down onto the ground and show her who's boss 'round here. Mom gets real surprised cuz this just isn't like me but I just can't help myself.

Mom told Unique's hooman not to let her out here and told him that 3 out of 4 critters in the Pet Cemetery here were killed on the highway. She also told him to be sure to pick up Unique's poop. Well, he lets her out to run around all the time, and he doesn't even know where she poops, so doesn't pick it up. Mom isn't happy 'bout that. She not want poop all over the place, and she not want to have any more critters buried in the Pet Cemetery. That makes Mom very sad. And she thinks this guy doesn't love his dog like he should. He even talked to day 'bout the only way to train a Boxer is to punch it so hard you knock it out. Mom is NOT happy 'bout that and will call the police and SPCA if she ever sees him do anything like that... and she'll kick him off the property too.

Thanks fur listening and letting me 'vent' about my problems.

Manic Monday - 1000 or One Thousand

Today, Morgen (a.k.a. Mo) at It's A Blog Eat Blog World, has given us the word 1000 or one thousand to post about and have some fun with for his Manic Monday Meme (or Challenge, if you prefer).

Recently I heard someone say something about fleas, so asked Mom what that means. She told me they're biting insects that get on critters, 'specially dogs and cats, and that they can get in the carpets and yur bed, and can even bite hoomans too. A long long time ago, Mom lived at a place that she said is in the "lower mainland of BC" and it's lots wetter there than it is here. Always raining and when it does snow in winter it melts away real fast. Anyway, Mom had a dog and cat and a man all living woof her there, and she said that there a lots and lots of fleas there... a real problem. I've never had a flea and my late brother Shadow only had a few in his whole life and never was any problem. The other dog and cat had 1000 or more... that's right One Thousand or MORE ucky fleas!! Well, at least it seemed like that I guess. She said they (the fleas) was all through the carpet and they used to bite Doug's legs all the time (that was the man). But once Mom moved back up here, the fleas quit bothering her critters and she's never had a problem woof them since.

I Googled fleas and found out this stuff that you can read if yur interested... or skip to the bottom. Yur choice.... BARK.

Fleas on dogs and cats! These small dark brown insects prefer temperatures of 65-80 degrees and humidity levels of 75-85%... so for Darn fleas!! some areas of the country they are more than just a “summer” problem. Dogs and cats often get infested with fleas through contact with other animals or contact with fleas in the environment. The strong back legs of this insect enable it to jump from host to host or from the environment onto the host. (Fleas do not have wings so cannot fly!) The flea’s bite can cause itching for the host but for a sensitive or flea-allergic animal, this itching can be quite severe and leads to hair-loss, inflammation and secondary skin infections. Some pets, hypersensitive to the flea's saliva, will itch all over from the bite of even a single flea! The flea information presented here will focus on treatment for and prevention of fleas, which, let’s face it, is just as important to the pet as it is to the pet's caretakers!

How do you know if fleas are causing all that itching (called pruritus)? Generally, unlike the burrowing, microscopic Demodex or Scabies Mites, fleas can be seen scurrying along the surface of the skin. Dark copper colored and about the size of the head of a pin, fleas dislike light so looking for them within furry areas and on the pet's belly and inner thighs will provide your best chances of spotting them. Look for "flea dirt", too. "Flea dirt" looks like dark specks of pepper scattered on the skin surface. See the image of flea dirt near the bottom-right of this article. If you see flea dirt, which is actually flea feces and is composed of digested blood, pick some off the pet and place on a wet paper towel. If after a few minutes the tiny specks spread out like a small blood stain... it's definitely flea dirt and your pet has fleas! Flea dirt may be your only evidence of a flea infestation but believe the evidence! If there is flea dirt there are surely fleas present. You need to begin your war on the pests.

These piktures are from Alta Vista Images. The top one is one flea, but it's a big pikture of a little thing... so we can see it. The bottom one is fleas on some dog's nose. YUCK!!! I'm gettin' itchy just doin' this blog, so gonna say good night now and go outside fur a bit before bed.

Happy Manic Monday every body. Stay Flea Free!!

Friday Fill-Ins (My 1st)

Mom and I were surfin' around the internet, checking out all the Friday's Feasts and enjoying them all when we 'stumbled' on another game to play woof people. Here ya go. I hope I didn't slobber on it too much as I drug it home fur you to see.

Friday Fill In #66

1. Tonight I saw Unique. She's the Boxer that just moved in down below. I had to show her that I'm the Alpha dog!
2. Any time Mom gets people comin' to visit, it makes me wanna dance! (Well, jump around lots anyway.)
3. Splitting a few appetizers between friends is something a dog never does.
4. Shadow, Mom's friend Wendy's dog, is someone I'd like to get to know better.
5. The smell of flowers and other stuff growing reminds me so much of springtime!
6. Mom patted my head and that made it all better.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to sleeping, tomorrow my plans include being in my dog run, eating raw meat fur dinner, sleeping and Sunday, I want to go fur a nice walk at the dog park again!

Have a woofenderful weekend, every one!

Fur more information on this, or fur more players, and every fur if you want to play too, go check out Friday Fill-Ins!

Friday's Feast #24

Appetizer

Invent a new flower; give it a name and describe it.

Sun Rose. It's a cross between a sunflower and a rose. It's the shape of a rose but looks feathery as it's petals are like the sunflower, and it smells like a rose.

Soup

Name someone whom you think has a wonderful voice.

I like to hear my Mom when she tells me how good a dog I am and how much she loves me or is proud of me. Does that count?

Salad

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how clean do you keep your car?

I don't got a car. I ride in the back of Mom's truck. There's a spare tire in there, and some blankets fur me to lay on so I'm comfortable.
